For today, we had booked a whale watching tour. They sent a tuk-tuk to pick us up and brought us to Mirissa harbour.

We were out on the water for a couple of hours but didn’t see more than a few dorsal fins and maybe a tail. It was nothing like what the whale watching posters all over Mirissa were depicting.

After coming back to our guest house, we had a late breakfastβ€”which was almost like brunchβ€”and then relaxed in the afternoon.

In the evening, we went to Mirissa Turtle Bay beach. It was very enjoyable to swim in the calm waters of the bay. The water was also noticeably warmer than what I have seen on the western coast of India in Maharashtra and Goa.

At night, we visited a very local eatery to have the iconic local Kottu Rotiβ€”a famous Sri Lankan street food made of shredded flatbread stir-fried with meat or eggs, and spices. It was flavorful and nice.
